In 2010, the value of the Chinese packaging industry’s annual output exceeded RMB 1 trillion (USD 150.1 bn) for the first time. This makes China the world's second largest packaging producer today, second only to the United States.
The same year, in response to the rapid development and expansion of the global packaging industry, the World Packaging Organization approved the construction of the Asian Packaging Center in Hangzhou, China.
The Asian Packaging Center will be pivotal to the development of both China’s local packaging industry and the international packaging industry.
