SinoCorrugated has successfully concluded their Iran Roadshow stop as one of the last stations of the Global Roadshow Tour in 2017. The Iran National Seminar of Corrugated & Gala Dinner 2017 gathered a high number of Packaging Manager and other industry professionals on 15.12 at the Evin Parsian Hotel in Tehran. The evening was joined by speeches of industry influencers such as Mr. Azami or Mr. Dastjerdi who shared their long time market experience with the audience.

The Event, which was held alongside Iran Print & Pack 2017, was occupied until the last seat. The Event was organized by Reed Exhibitions together with its local partner Carton Info. The Seminar part, which was presented by a well-known local TV moderator, was followed by a Gala Dinner in order to round up the last local industry gathering in 2017. The corrugated industry plays a significant role in the overall manufacturing sector of the Iran economy and SinoCorrugated will go along with this trend in order to provide further market opportunities to its clients and interested business professionals in the future.
Iran Market Introduction: Reintegration of international trade after lifting of sanctions
Iran, which has been locked out of the global community for almost four decades, has the second largest gas reserve & fourth-largest oil reserve in the world. Is now fully open for business and trade and is generating USD 400 billion per year following lifting the sanctions in 2016. It’s reintegration into the international business world has marked the biggest economic transformation since the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1987 and the decision by China to join the WTO in 2001. The biggest obstacle is the fact that the US still has sanctions in place and holds a large list of blacklisted individuals and companies which means that they need to carry out expensive due diligence searches to rule out any suspect connections to an Iranian entity they want to work with.

Representatives of the SinoCorrugated project team had the possibility to get further market insights by visiting local cardboard plants. One of these was the company of Koosha Carton Tehran. The company owns a Corrugator of SinoCorrugated business partner J.S. Machine which runs at an average speed of 130 meters. It is worth too mention that their average speed is, compared to corrugators in other countries, lower which is due to the different quality level of papers. The Company produces cardboard with three different working widths. For the future, the owner wants to set its focus more on the printing part and sees the improvement in quality as the key to further growths. So far, big companies of private goods (e.g. washing powder, soap, electronical items) are making the highest orders. Consumer products are increasingly customized for different market sectors. Implications for packaging and corrugated boards include increasing use of convenience formats and continuing high levels of customization with more print variants.
Retailer & brand owner trends
Retailer trends are targeted in a reduction of in-store costs; an optimization of transit packaging as well as a better managing of packaging waste. Therefore brand owner need a consistent international branding and should take care of their brand protection. A high understanding in managing the supply chain complexity is also requested.
Supply chain efficiency
Efficient Customer Response is a new initiative among retailer and brand owner which aims to improve the efficiency of the customer corrugated materials & packaged goods supply chain. Corrugated & packaging manufacturers are under increasing pressure to respond through providing improved levels of service.
